Cyberbullying Poster Requirements for 6A

Cyberbullying Poster Assignment – Media Literacy and Health Project

Cyberbullying has become a major form of bullying that can affect both kids and adults. It is one of the most private and hurtful ways a person can be bullied. Now is your chance to tell people about the problem and what they can do to stop Cyberbullying.

You will create a poster to raise awareness of Cyberbullying here at Windham Ridge. Your poster will be displayed on the walls of the school.

Requirements – You must:

1)    Choose a target audience – who are you “speaking to”? Who do you want to listen to your message and follow the action you are suggesting? Think of the age of your audience: are you targeting young or older students? Are you targeting teachers? Or are you hoping that parents in the school read the poster and get more information about how to protect their child?

Circle one:  cyberbullies  OR  victims/potential victims  OR bystanders  OR teachers  OR parents

2)    Include a “slogan” that is catchy and communicates your message related to Cyberbullying. Think of something deep and profound…not just “Cyberbullying” or “Stop Cyberbullying” The slogan must be your own and cannot be found on the internet.

3)    Include relevant images that help communicate your message and help the audience understand the Cyberbullying issue.

4)    Include the following information, presented in a way people can read easily and quickly (like in bullet points or a list)

a.     What Cyberbullying is (you can give examples of what Cyberbullying looks like
                                               i.     Perhaps you want to inform the reader about the various TYPES of cyberbullying
b.     Dangers of Cyberbullying – why is it so bad? Why should we care? Is it more dangerous than regular bullying?
c.     Inform the audience on possible actions they can take: For victims: tell what to do if they are being cyberbullied. For bystanders: What to do to prevent Cyberbullying or how to protect/help victims. For cyberbullies: why they should stop, how it is hurting others
d.     Important/interesting facts or statistics – don’t overwhelm your audience with facts, but use relevant statistics to communicate your message

5)    Choose colours, fonts and layout carefully and with a purpose.

Where can you find information? You can research online to find information to include in your poster. You also have 4 articles and your own notes and visual from the article you read in your folders.

How can you make the poster? You can do it by hand using large 8 ½ by 14 paper, poster board (not the kind that stands), or on the computer, using Google Draw or other poster making apps.
